Progesterone and stress

Hello Affiliate

DB writes...

"Hello. I do hope you can advise me.I have recently ordered 3 tubes
of progesterone cream from yourselves. I had a total hysterectomy
in 1996, but didn't start on hormone therapy until 1999.I was
having lots of discomfort so I began using Serenity progesterone
cream which really made a great difference. However, after having
been a widow for some years, I re-married in 2003.I then stopped
having any benefit from my Serenity cream, and went to see my
doctor, and was prescribed 2mg estrogen. I have been very well with
this, but recently my doctor halved the dose. Many of the problems
that I had before are returning, including very bad night sweats.
My doctor said that I shouldn't need hormones at my age, I am 62,
and very active in all areas of my life.

How much of your cream should I use, do you think it will help, and
why do you think the Serenity cream stopped working? I was using
their suggested dose, but I see that your recommended dose is higher.

At the moment I feel very confused as there are so many conflicting
comments from medical people regarding the safety and efficacy of
progesterone. It used to work for me so I hope it may help again.
Thank you for your help."

And here's my answer...

"Dear D, Many thanks for your email. Serenity is not as strong as
our cream, but otherwise it's a very good one. One word covers the
reason the Serenity stopped working... stress. You mentioned it
stopped benefiting you after you got married. No matter how good a
relationship is, the process of getting married is very stressful,
you now also have two people to look after, maybe more.

Progesterone is the precursor to our stress hormones, so when
stressed, cortisol rises and progesterone drops. Even happiness
causes stress! What you should have done, before, during and for
some time after getting married was to have used more cream. I
can't agree with your doctor saying you shouldn't need hormones at
your age, try saying the same thing to him and see his reaction!!
We live in a very polluted world, many of the pollutants are
estrogenic in nature, which upsets the delicate balance we should
naturally all be in. Progesterone is the only hormone which can
counteract the estrogen and give us back that balance.

When you get the cream, play around with the dose, it's very safe.
So try 1/2 teaspoon per day and see if the night sweats go, if not
then up the dose to say 3/4 teaspoon. You might initially need a
teaspoon a day for an affect, you can then reduce the dose very
slowly, until you feel you are using the correct amount, judging by
your symptoms. I still change the amount I use, after ten years of
using it. When I know I'm going to go into a stressful time, I
will start using more, then reduce it when the stress has passed.
Sometimes we're unaware of any stress and then wonder why our
emotions start to 'wobble', maybe physical symptoms come back too.
As I said above, even happiness causes stress.

I will attach some documents here about progesterone to reassure
you of it's safety. They are unrelated to your problem, but will
give you an idea of the scope of it's use. My guide was Dr Dalton,
who practiced medicine in Harley Street (London) for fifty years,
until her death at the age of 84, two years ago. She prescribed
progesterone to her patients over those fifty years and none of
them had any adverse side affects from it, quite the reverse!
Please let me know how you get on and come back to me if you have
any more questions."

Till next time.
