Progesterone and HRT

Hello Affiliate

More interesting discussions for you, this time mainly HRT focused...

"LB" writes...

"I just received my first delivery. In applying the cream - you say
apply anywhere but where is the best place? I have been on HRT and
was advised to stop by my doctor because of the side effects
reported. Am I right in understanding that I don't need to have
estrogen as well as Natpro? I do have some Estrogel I could use in
combination--what is your opinion?."

I reply...

"Dear Lesley, Many thanks for your email. There is
no 'best' place, progesterone is absorbed very well through the
skin, which has the same structure over the entire body. The only
difference is that in some areas it's thinner and in some areas the
blood flow is greater, such as that lining the vagina or rectum. So
I recommend people to use the cream where it's needed most.

If for instance you have a sore vagina or rectum use it there, if
you have a burn use it there (it's excellent for burns), if period
pains are a problem, rub it over the tummy. I've put it on my
face, neck, breasts and feet every morning and evening for the past
ten years. I also choose one or two other places to put it at the
same time.

I'm very glad your doctor has asked you to stop taking the HRT. If
you haven't stopped already, I always advise reducing the dose
slowly, whilst using the progesterone to give support. Taking
between 1-3 months to reduce the HRT. Most women don't need any
estrogen if using progesterone, but I have found that there are a
few who suffer from hot flushes or vaginal dryness who find that
they don't respond quickly enough to the progesterone. In this case
I suggest they use something like Estrogel, which is a natural
estrogen. So if you do find you need it, then go ahead. I have
attached a document on menopause which might interest you and one
on absorption of progesterone through the skin.

Please come back to me if you have any more questions and if you
have the time, I would love to know how you fare on the cream."

"LB" answers...

"Dear Wray, Thanks for your response, I have been using Natpro for
5 days now, I think I feel better about things, I am certainly
sleeping better, I will keep you informed of my progress. The only
thing bothering me is that when I started taking the HRT prescribed
by my doctor, I promptly gained weight, I am hoping the same thing
doesn't happen again with introducing myself to Natpro -- is this a
possibility?? Do I stay on Natpro for ever?"

And my answer is...

"Dear Lesley, I'm so pleased you're feeling better on the Natpro,
you should! Estrogen is renowned for putting on weight. Farmers
give it to their animals to make them get fat quickly, which is why
humans have so many problems now eating factory farmed meat. We're
all taking in huge amounts of estrogen, as it's stored in the fat
of animals, fat which you can't see and therefore can't cut out.
So it's always best to use organic meat and veggies too, as even
our pesticides are all estrogenic! So you shouldn't put on weight,
many women loose it in fact as progesterone acts as a diuretic.
Initially some estrogen dominance symptoms might occur, one of
which is water retention, but that goes, once the progesterone has
stabilized the body. About staying on the cream forever, it's
entirely up to how you feel. If you reduce it slowly and your
symptoms still come back, then it would indicate you still need it,
play around. I've been using it now for 10 years, and intend
staying on it forever as it's very protective against certain
cancers. I'll attach some documents for you. Do let me know how
you get on and I'm always here if you have more questions."

Till next time.
