Here's something interesting that happened to "LJ" after she
started progesterone therapy...
"I ordered some Natpro and it arrived. This is so weird, it arrived
on a Sunday (the post office delivered it to me on a Sunday!) have
you ever heard of such a thing?! Last week they tried to deliver
it on Saturday and I missed the postman. It required a signature.
I even tried to chase down the mail truck, but didn't catch it in
time. Then Sunday morning last week a guy drives up and gets out
of a USPS Jeep with the package.
Anyway, I've been using it for a week and beginning Monday or
Tuesday night I started sleeping completely through the night. I
NEVER SLEEP THROUGH THE NIGHT. I used to when I was younger, but
it has been years and years. Thank you!"
And here's a Q&A you may relate to.
"E" asks...
"I have been using Natpro for perimenopausal symptoms including
heavy periods and reduced spacing of them, hoping that I'd get a
bigger gap! Now they seem to be every three weeks. I have used
about one tube per two months and have had almost three sets of
cream. Should I increase the usage rate or is there other advice
you can give me? With the menstrual pattern it is hard to know
exactly when to stop and start the cream."
My reply...
"Dear E, Many thanks for your email. I know what you're going
through, having been through it myself! Unfortunately there is
nothing one can do to regulate periods once in peri-menopause. In
fact they become even more erratic as times passes, bigger gaps,
smaller gaps, lighter bleeding and heavier, occasionally flooding!
Until the gaps start becoming very wide, 2 to 3 months and then
longer, till finally no more.
So I suggest you do what I did and recommend to everyone in a
similar situation, use the cream every day, without a gap. I still
use a tube a month, about 1/2 teaspoon per day. Sometimes more if
I'm stressed, sometimes less if not, I vary it almost daily.
Occasionally giving myself a treat by covering my body with the
stuff, from soles of feet to my face! There are therapists who
recommend taking a few days break once a month, but I know I would
forget to do this, and having been reassured by Dr Dalton, who when
alive was the foremost authority on progesterone, that it was
perfectly safe, I've now been applying it like this for ten years.
Incidentally I started my daughter on it when she was fourteen, due
to the beginnings of depression, and as she at the time was going
through puberty and also had erratic periods like me, she also used
it continuously, until her periods started coming more regularly.
Do hope I've been of some help."
"E" answers...
"Thanks so much Wray. I'll give it a go. It is difficult to find a
doctor to give sound advice on natural hormone therapy and
sometimes I feel I have to go with my intuition. I'll order some
more and do as you suggest. Thank you for caring!"

DB writes...
"Hello. I do hope you can advise me.I have recently ordered 3 tubes
of progesterone cream from yourselves. I had a total hysterectomy
in 1996, but didn't start on hormone therapy until 1999.I was
having lots of discomfort so I began using Serenity progesterone
cream which really made a great difference. However, after having
been a widow for some years, I re-married in 2003.I then stopped
having any benefit from my Serenity cream, and went to see my
doctor, and was prescribed 2mg estrogen. I have been very well with
this, but recently my doctor halved the dose. Many of the problems
that I had before are returning, including very bad night sweats.
My doctor said that I shouldn't need hormones at my age, I am 62,
and very active in all areas of my life.
How much of your cream should I use, do you think it will help, and
why do you think the Serenity cream stopped working? I was using
their suggested dose, but I see that your recommended dose is higher.
At the moment I feel very confused as there are so many conflicting
comments from medical people regarding the safety and efficacy of
progesterone. It used to work for me so I hope it may help again.
Thank you for your help."
And here's my answer...
"Dear D, Many thanks for your email. Serenity is not as strong as
our cream, but otherwise it's a very good one. One word covers the
reason the Serenity stopped working... stress. You mentioned it
stopped benefiting you after you got married. No matter how good a
relationship is, the process of getting married is very stressful,
you now also have two people to look after, maybe more.
Progesterone is the precursor to our stress hormones, so when
stressed, cortisol rises and progesterone drops. Even happiness
causes stress! What you should have done, before, during and for
some time after getting married was to have used more cream. I
can't agree with your doctor saying you shouldn't need hormones at
your age, try saying the same thing to him and see his reaction!!
We live in a very polluted world, many of the pollutants are
estrogenic in nature, which upsets the delicate balance we should
naturally all be in. Progesterone is the only hormone which can
counteract the estrogen and give us back that balance.
When you get the cream, play around with the dose, it's very safe.
So try 1/2 teaspoon per day and see if the night sweats go, if not
then up the dose to say 3/4 teaspoon. You might initially need a
teaspoon a day for an affect, you can then reduce the dose very
slowly, until you feel you are using the correct amount, judging by
your symptoms. I still change the amount I use, after ten years of
using it. When I know I'm going to go into a stressful time, I
will start using more, then reduce it when the stress has passed.
Sometimes we're unaware of any stress and then wonder why our
emotions start to 'wobble', maybe physical symptoms come back too.
As I said above, even happiness causes stress.
I will attach some documents here about progesterone to reassure
you of it's safety. They are unrelated to your problem, but will
give you an idea of the scope of it's use. My guide was Dr Dalton,
who practiced medicine in Harley Street (London) for fifty years,
until her death at the age of 84, two years ago. She prescribed
progesterone to her patients over those fifty years and none of
them had any adverse side affects from it, quite the reverse!
Please let me know how you get on and come back to me if you have
any more questions."

CA has a question about fibroids...
"I have been diagnozed with Fibriods 5 months ago. Please tell me,
how I can get rid of it without going through surgery. Since then I
have gone through two miscarriages."
I reply...
"Dear C, Many thanks for your email. We've helped many women with
fibroids by advising they use progesterone. Estrogen causes the
lining of the uterus to grow, then mid cycle progesterone kicks in
and makes the lining ready for the fertilized egg to embed itself.
Fibroids occur most frequently in women from the mid thirties on,
when estrogen levels are high but progesterone levels are
declining.
It is known that after menopause with the drop in the estrogen
level they disappear. In fact women approaching menopause are
usually told to hang on till it starts, rather than have the
operation. With supplemental progesterone the fibroids are
gradually absorbed back into the body, taking from three to twelve
months to do so. The bleeding will become less heavy, spotting will
cease and if pain is present that will also go.
It is not necessary to have a hysterectomy, uterine artery
embolisation (UAE) or laparoscopic myomectomy (LM) to remove them.
We've successfully helped many women with fibroids and
progesterone. One in particular comes to mind. She was due to
have a hysterectomy, but opted to try the cream. Her uterus was
swollen, she had very heavy bleeding, clots and pain, but after the
first month the pain had gone, the bleeding and clots in the next
few months became less, but most important she still has her uterus
five years later and her periods are 100% normal now.
As you say you've also had two miscarriages, I believe your
progesterone levels must be very low. I will attach a few
documents which I hope will help you make an informed decision.
Please come back to me if you have any more questions."

MS writes...
"You said in one of your write ups that progesterone is converted
by the adrenal glands into other hormones such as cortisone,
estrogen, testosterone and others. In another, you condemned the
conventional treatment with estrogen. Is this not a contradiction
as the use of progesterone will eventually be converted to estrogen
too?"
And here's my reply...
"Dear M, Many thanks for your email. The estrogen in HRT or The
Pill is always synthetic, whereas the estrogen converted in the
body from progesterone is natural. There have now been many
studies where they've found that the synthetic form is in fact
dangerous, three major studies on HRT have been stopped and the FDA
has issued a warning that the Pill Yasmin must have a black box
warning on the packet.
I have attached a number of documents which I hope will reassure
you. And some web addresses. Some health practitioners are using
a natural estrogen cream/gel to help with hot flashes and vaginal
dryness during menopause, as some women don't respond to
progesterone quickly enough. The recommended estrogen is estriol,
which has been found to be anti-cancerous, whereas both estradiol
and estrone are not. Please come back to me if you have any more
questions."

"I suspect I am lacking in progesterone because of the several
symptoms I've encountered over the past three years, including two
miscarriages. I brought it up with my OB/Gyn and he seemed
defensive. If he is unwilling to check it, is it safe for me to
just start the therapy on my own? What are the risks in doing that?
We are trying for a baby and would like to prevent another
miscarriage. Do you have to be tested for lack of progesterone to
start therapy? Thanks"
I reply...
"Dear K, Many thanks for your email. It's a pity about your
Ob/Gyn, but not unusual! They tend to be very drug orientated, and
progesterone falls into a grey realm for them. Although we are
supplying several doctors and therapists with bulk orders, others
are reluctant to acknowledge it's benefits. It sounds to me that
you are lacking in progesterone, in view of the miscarriages. It's
not necessary to have tests done, the symptoms are enough to go on.
I will attach a chapter scanned from Dr Dalton's book on pregnancy,
so that you can make an informed decision.
I would suggest you start with a dose of about 2.5ml/day. Keep
using it according to your cycle, until you know you're pregnant,
then increase the amount to 5ml (1 teaspoon), using it every day
without a break."

"KW" has a question about pregnancy...
"I have been using Natpro cream for 2 years. I apply it twice per
day on day 14 of my cycle until the start of menstruation. I was
prescribed it for PMS. I intend to try for a baby and wonder if I
should discontinue using the cream while trying to become pregnant?"
My reply...
"Dear K, I'm so glad the cream has been helping you with the PMS.
Progesterone is wonderful for pregnancy, after all it is the
pregnancy hormone. So it is really up to you, but it can only be
beneficial. I will attach a chapter from Dr Dalton's book about
progesterone and pregnancy, and hopefully you'll be able to make an
informed opinion about whether to use it or not. One thing I'd ask
you to do if you want to have a baby, is please start taking now
(if you're not already) Omega 3 fish oil, folic acid, plus a
vitamin B complex. The foetus needs huge amounts of Omega 3 for
optimal brain development. If it doesn't get enough, then your
brain is robbed of what it needs. It's a known fact that the
mother's brain shrinks during pregnancy if enough of the essential
fatty acids are not eaten. They've also connected a lack of Omega
3 in foetal development to ADHD, dyslexia and dyspraxia. Folic acid
of course prevents spina bifida from forming. Do hope I've been of
some help. Please come back to me if you have any more questions."
"KW" has more questions this time about morning sickness...
"Thanks so much for your message. I read the two attachments with
interest. I wonder if you could advise me as to how much
progesterone I should take. Currently I apply about a quarter of a
teaspoon twice per day on day 14 of my cycle until menstruation
begins. I will be 39 in two week's time and have had one pregnancy
before which ended in miscarriage two years ago. I am planning to
try for a baby now. During the first pregnancy I was not taking
progesterone at the time and suffered horrendous morning sickness.
I wonder if I should perhaps increase the dose? Thank you also for
the advice regarding Omega 3. I am vegetarian but for some time
now have been taking cod liver oil. I think I will start taking
Omega 3 (hemp oil and flaxseed) as well as Folic Acid and B Complex
as you advise. Thanks again for your help"
And here's my answer...
"Dear K, I'm glad I was of help. If you had morning sickness,
that's an indication of a lack of progesterone, as you probably
read in Dr Dalton's chapter on pregnancy. So I would suggest you
start increasing the dose to about 5ml/day (1 teaspoon). Keep
using it according to your cycle, until you know you're pregnant,
then use the same amount every day without a break.
We've just helped a girl who during her previous pregnancy had
morning sickness for 7 months! The progesterone level increases
enormously in the last 2 months, which is why she didn't have it at
the end. Now she's pregnant again and the MS was very bad. I
advised her to start using 2 teaspoons/day to get rid of it, as it
had already become so bad. Well I'm pleased to say that it has now
gone.
I'm concerned to hear that you're vegetarian, as there's plenty of
evidence that vegetarian mothers don't have enough Omega 3 in their
blood for the developing foetus. As you're already taking cod
liver oil, maybe you'd consider taking fish oil, rather than the
flax oil? If the body is stressed, (and pregnancy is stressful) we
can't convert enough of the vegetable Omega 3 into the longer chain
EPA and DHA, which the foetus needs. DHA in particular is very
important for the developing brain. Studies have been done using a
DHA extract from algae, making it suitable for vegetarians, but
have found it didn't have the same benefits as the fish oil. The
thinking is the body also needs EPA which is not present in the
algae version. I'm glad you're going to take the folic acid too,
although that is usually not a problem for vegetarians, but it's
worth it for the sake of the foetus! And please try and keep your
stress levels down.
I had five miscarriages before having my daughter at the age of 33.
And recalling all of them, a stressful event occurred just prior
to having each one. One was precipitated by a dog fight, where I
had to separate the dogs! The miscarriage occurred later that
evening.
The first 3-4 months is really critical, so keep the progesterone
levels really high then, after that the placenta takes over, so the
risk isn't as great. But as you seem prone to them and the morning
sickness, I would suggest you keep using the cream throughout the
pregnancy. You'll have a very intelligent child!! Please let me
know how you get on and how the pregnancy develops, it's always so
helpful to me, I can then help others! And please remember I'm
always here to answer questions."
Till next time.

ago with very little help. Thanks, look forward to your reply"
And here's my answer...
"Dear R, Many thanks for your email, which was forwarded to me. You
have all the symptoms of a progesterone deficiency, so to my mind
it would be worth trying it. Luckily I still have my uterus, but I
did have all the symptoms you mention, and funnily enough also
tried a yam cream in the beginning. Whilst on it I started getting
hot flushes! So found a progesterone cream, and didn't look back.
I've attached two documents which might be of interest to you. I
find that our symptoms are usually more than just a progesterone
deficiency. The B vitamins, Omega 3 fish oil and some of the aminos
and minerals are all vital too. Please come back to me if you have

"Thank you Wray for your reply. I have made enquiries here in NZ.
The pharmaceutical laws are very strict. For Natural Prosterone you
are required to have a Doctors prescription here. There is one
available with a primrose oil base, not as good as yours. With that
in mind in the mean time I have opted to start on what is available
here in NZ. The Health department have told me if that is not
effective I can ask my Dr to write a letter giving me permission to
import the Natpro Progesterone. I am already using Flaxseed and
Blackcurrant oil high in Omega 3and 6 and am taking a Top Quality
multivitamin, mineral and antioxidant supplement. Really do
appreciate your help and support"
I answer...
"Am glad you're already taking the nutrients I suggested. Do hope
you manage to get our cream, it's very good! But if it reassures
you, I do know of a man in NZ who has already received the cream
with no problem. He just ordered it from our site and it came in
the post with no hassles. So hopefully it will be the same for
you. Would love too know if you do order and if you get it with no
problems, it will then help me to help others in NZ. If you have
any more questions, or want more papers on health issues, please

"LB" writes...
"I just received my first delivery. In applying the cream - you say
apply anywhere but where is the best place? I have been on HRT and
was advised to stop by my doctor because of the side effects
reported. Am I right in understanding that I don't need to have
estrogen as well as Natpro? I do have some Estrogel I could use in
combination--what is your opinion?."
I reply...
"Dear Lesley, Many thanks for your email. There is
no 'best' place, progesterone is absorbed very well through the
skin, which has the same structure over the entire body. The only
difference is that in some areas it's thinner and in some areas the
blood flow is greater, such as that lining the vagina or rectum. So
I recommend people to use the cream where it's needed most.
If for instance you have a sore vagina or rectum use it there, if
you have a burn use it there (it's excellent for burns), if period
pains are a problem, rub it over the tummy. I've put it on my
face, neck, breasts and feet every morning and evening for the past
ten years. I also choose one or two other places to put it at the
same time.
I'm very glad your doctor has asked you to stop taking the HRT. If
you haven't stopped already, I always advise reducing the dose
slowly, whilst using the progesterone to give support. Taking
between 1-3 months to reduce the HRT. Most women don't need any
estrogen if using progesterone, but I have found that there are a
few who suffer from hot flushes or vaginal dryness who find that
they don't respond quickly enough to the progesterone. In this case
I suggest they use something like Estrogel, which is a natural
estrogen. So if you do find you need it, then go ahead. I have
attached a document on menopause which might interest you and one
on absorption of progesterone through the skin.
Please come back to me if you have any more questions and if you
have the time, I would love to know how you fare on the cream."
"LB" answers...
"Dear Wray, Thanks for your response, I have been using Natpro for
5 days now, I think I feel better about things, I am certainly
sleeping better, I will keep you informed of my progress. The only
thing bothering me is that when I started taking the HRT prescribed
by my doctor, I promptly gained weight, I am hoping the same thing
doesn't happen again with introducing myself to Natpro -- is this a
possibility?? Do I stay on Natpro for ever?"
And my answer is...
"Dear Lesley, I'm so pleased you're feeling better on the Natpro,
you should! Estrogen is renowned for putting on weight. Farmers
give it to their animals to make them get fat quickly, which is why
humans have so many problems now eating factory farmed meat. We're
all taking in huge amounts of estrogen, as it's stored in the fat
of animals, fat which you can't see and therefore can't cut out.
So it's always best to use organic meat and veggies too, as even
our pesticides are all estrogenic! So you shouldn't put on weight,
many women loose it in fact as progesterone acts as a diuretic.
Initially some estrogen dominance symptoms might occur, one of
which is water retention, but that goes, once the progesterone has
stabilized the body. About staying on the cream forever, it's
entirely up to how you feel. If you reduce it slowly and your
symptoms still come back, then it would indicate you still need it,
play around. I've been using it now for 10 years, and intend
staying on it forever as it's very protective against certain
cancers. I'll attach some documents for you. Do let me know how
you get on and I'm always here if you have more questions."
Till next time.

Here's an email conversation on PCO...
"S" writes...
"I suffer with Polycystic overies and the symptoms are terrible to
live with. I have seen the Dr hundreds of times and begged them to
help me but have no joy. My symptoms are: tiredness, no sex drive,
memory loss, changed emotions, terrible periods, flaky nails. hair
growth"
And here's my answer...
"Dear S, Many thanks for your email. I hope I can help, as we've had
success with progesterone and PCO with other women. It's my belief
that it's in fact caused by a lack of progesterone.
Two of the main symptoms of PCO are insulin resistance and high
androgens, so most doctors when confronted with PCO either give
their patients the Pill or put them on the diabetes drug Metformin.
The Pill to suppress the androgens and the Metformin to correct the
insulin resistance, but neither of them addresses the cause.
The Pill contains a synthetic version of progesterone, which often
has major side affects, one of them is to cause depression by
lowering your own natural progesterone level, this can then cause
oestrogen dominance symptoms, one of which is nausea.
Have you had your progesterone level checked? And have you had a
homocysteine and d-Chiro-inositol blood test? All of these should
have been done as they all have a bearing on the problem.
Briefly, during the first half of our cycle follicle stimulating
hormone and oestrogen cause the egg to mature, at mid cycle
lutenising hormone causes the follicle to burst and the egg is
released. The follicle, now called the corpus luteum, starts
producing progesterone. The first half of this cycle occurs in PCO
but instead of the egg being released it isn't, a cyst forms
instead, which means no progesterone is made. By supplementing with
progesterone blood sugar problems are resolved, the androgens are
counteracted and the cysts are absorbed back into the body. It
takes time but eventually the problems are resolved.
I once had an assistant, who when she joined me had severe PCO with
a 4cm ovarian cyst which her doctor had found by a scan and wanted
to remove surgically. Well after a month of progesterone the cyst
had completely gone. About a year later she had a child, which is
generally difficult with PCO.
Please consider taking Omega 3 fish oil for your skin and if you
can bear it flax oil too. Both are so good for the skin. The
Omega 3 in flax oil is converted to the longer chain fatty acids,
but only slowly. But the flax has other actions which seem to 'oil'
us.
You'll find that the progesterone also helps tremendously with your
skin. Please come back to me if you have any more questions."
Till next time.
